Altered jewellery gift box

Posted on

Here is a little altered gift box I made into a wall hanging shadow box. It was one of those ideas that just popped into my head when I had way to many projects on the go. I always seem to be working on at least 4 or 5 different things at once. Lol

The Antique hymn book I used the paper from was already ruined.  I only use books that people would normally throw away.

Anyway I’ve listed it in my Etsy shop. Let me know what you think.

Garage Sale & Op Shop Hauls

Posted on

So sorry I’ve been slack in keeping up with my posts. I’ve not been keeping up with anything. I’m just so tired and in pain. But my Neurologist appointment is on Monday so hopefully I’ll start to get some answers and help. OH, and sleep! It’s been over 4 years since I’ve been able to sleep laying down for long. Now I’m averaging about 1 1/2 hours before I need to get up.

But the main thing is that I am still happy. I’m still doing well with my Etsy shop. Sometimes it’s overwhelming but I’m coping and I love it. 🙂

When I go out hunting for vintage and other treasures I feel good because I can find things that make people happy. Just because something is old or used doesn’t make it rubbish. I have some customers that I find things for that they collect. They are not able to find these things but I am. It’s a good feeling.

Here are just a few photos from my hauls, for you.

I hope you enjoy the shots

. I’d love any comments.

My Etsy shop is doing very well. I couldn’t be happier.

Altered canvas shadow box

Posted on Updated on

I’ve been having so much fun making some altered canvas shadow boxes. I thought I’d show you my process with this one. I’ve never made any of these animals so please don’t judge to harshly. I am improving.

I’m definitely getting better with the polymer clay. I just love it so much. I remember my Mum giving my some Fimo when I was a kid and I made some beads. But now I see the potential that this medium has. I’m using Sculpy Primo and Mont Marte. Also the Sculpey face mold. The paint is Mont Marte Acrylics which I love.

I’ve been using Mont Marte products for years now and just love them. They are really affordable to. And they are bringing out 10 to 12 new clay colors . Yay!

My local supply shop is called Thorpy’s never ending bargains, in Nuriootpa, and they stock all my Mont Marte products and every thing else I need. I’m very lucky because otherwise I’d have to travel over an hour each way to get my supplies.

I’m going to list this piece in my Etsy shop as soon as I can work out what to charge for it. That is the hardest part. Working out what it is worth in money.

So what do you think? I’d love any comments or advice.

Garden treasures

Posted on Updated on

Hi guys,

I went for a walk with my camera today around my garden. I love all the little treasures I have in amongst the plants. Or should I say weeds? I’ve not been gardening for ages because of my health. But my meds have been doubled and I’m in a little less pain now so I’m going to do some work.

It’s so pretty in Autumn with the changing colors of the leaves. My Snowball tree is gorgeous. Red leaves now and in Spring big white balls of petals.

Anyway I hope you enjoy my shots.

Sharing Cloud 9 Productions

Posted on

I wanted to share with you today about an awesome Etsy shop called Cloud 9 Productions owned by my friend Laura Olinger. She is a most talented polymer clay artist who creates the most gorgeous little animals.

These little guys make wonderful pressies for anyone and any occasion. They are just so darned cute. I’m always looking to see what Laura comes up with next.

I’ve been learning to use polymer clay myself and now realize how much goes into a piece of work. I hope one day to be as talented as Laura.

Here are some picks of her work. I’d love it if you’d go over to her shop and check it out.

Garage Sale and Swap Meet Haul 11th & 12th April

Posted on Updated on

It was an awesome weekend. There were so many Garage Sales on Saturday that we couldn’t do them all. And most of them had good stuff. It was just a shame that I had hardly any money 😦  But I did get some vintage bargains for my Etsy shop.

Then on Sunday my friend and I went to a Swap Meet where we got some more bargains. Yippy! You cant beet a weekend like that. Only trouble was with my pain level and walking. Next time I’ll be taking a walker with wheels, a basket and a seat. I really don’t care anymore. I’m not going to miss out on going to these great places. I missed out on the last town sale because I couldn’t walk, so no more. 🙂

Anyway, check out my photos and let me know what you think. I love to get your comments. And tell me about your adventures to.

I’ve got a load of photos for you with descriptions. Some are from garage sales and some are from op shops. (Thrift shops).

I also got this week 2 new packs of disposable glove for my resin work, a fly door for the studio and Reebok sneekers for $6.00

There was even a garage sale today which is a Wednesday. It was all stuff from the sheds which must have been there for 30 years or so. I got some great things for my Etsy shop though.

Well here are the photos.

Garage sale haul 21/3/15

Posted on

I haven’t done one of these posts for ages but today’s haul is amazing. I got myself a light box finally and a 4 draw rattan storage basket for the studio. It just needs some love. Lol

I got an Avon bottle for my Etsy shop and a brass vanity mirror, an Italian brass picture frame, (I sold one of these last week). Also a

vintage pomander, a Gillette razor and an Eclipse razor and two clocks. One for my shop and one to alter.

Then I got a stamp, a crystal a little wooden box to alter and a few nick naks for my altered art.

Oh and my new leather Kate Hill handbag for $2.00. It’s gorgeous and I’m keeping it. It will go perfectly with my beige suede coat for winter.

It was just so good today after weeks of nothing. Plus last night I made it to 200 sales and I just made it to 201. It seems that the more I list, the more I sell. I love it.

As for my health I’m finally on pain patches and a muscle relaxant which is helping to take the violence out of the cramps. I’m still in great pain and not getting through the night but at least the spasms are not so scary. I’ll be seeing the Neurologist soon and will get my diagnosis.

Well here are some photos for you. I hope you enjoy them. I’d love any comments. 🙂

A vintage treasure

Posted on

What a find this was.  Sitting in a little Op Shop was this pretty green and yellow milk jug. On the bottom it said ‘Fine bone china’, Queen Elizabeth’ and Queen Mary’. ( Meaning it has a double warrant). Mum knew the name Paragon so we grabbed it.

I spent days on the internet trying to find the same pattern without success. So I asked in an Antiques forum called   iantiqueonline.ning.com  and got some interesting information.

The Paragon name has a history with the Royal Family, who have awarded the company royal warrants of appointment beginning in 1933 by H.M. Queen Mary up until 1963, when the warrant was lastly reissued.   Royal Warrants were issued to companies who regularly supplied Queen Mary, the Queen Mother and Queen Elizabeth with fine china.

Dating between 1939 and 1949. It also looks like it may be a piece that was unreleased to the public which would explain why I can’t find the same pattern.

I want to find out it’s worth before I list it in my Etsy shop. I just love these little finds and all the research.

Sadly the woman working in the shop said that as it was in a retirement village, when people pass away a lot of the families just tell them to sell all the possessions. It is sad to think that someone kept this for years and it was overlooked and discarded.

I’d love to know the history of this piece. It must have had an interesting life.
